I had some very thick patches of dead grass in my lawn. After the first application, I could see that they were starting to break up.

I purchased the liquid dethatcher after I experienced grube damage in my lawn. I tried to rake as much dead grass as I could before overseeding, but noticed I could not get 100% of the dead grass. So I used the liquid dethatcher and noticed a difference within two weeks. After the first two weeks, I added another app. Be patient, and it will work.

Applies good in garden hose sprayer. Looks like grass is starting to feed On broken down thatch.

For best results apply LawnStar Liquid Lawn Dethatcher before 10 am, or after 5 pm. This allows for decreased evaporation and greater efficacy. Application during the afternoon should be avoided.
Application should be repeated every two to four weeks (depending on thatch layer thickness) for best results.
May cause staining. Shake product well before use.
For pump-up garden sprayers
1. Mix 4–8 oz. LawnStar Liquid Lawn Dethatcher per 1,000 sq. ft. Premix with a generous amount of water to ensure sufficient spray volume for application.
2. Apply evenly across 1,000 sq. ft. of lawn
3. Water lawn for 20–30 minutes after application
For hose-end sprayers
1. Pour LawnStar Liquid Lawn Dethatcher into hose-end sprayer bottle
2. Set sprayer to "1 oz." setting
3. Evenly apply 4–8 oz. concentrate per 1,000 sq. ft. of lawn, depending on thatch layer thickness

Are you keeping an eye on the thatch layer?
Although often overlooked, keeping an eye on the thatch layer is pivotal for the long-term health of your lawn.
Thatch refers to the layer of dead turfgrass tissue that sits between the grass and soil/root system below. And while thatch is beneficial when maintained correctly, if it becomes too thick (more than half an inch), it has the opposite effect and becomes detrimental to your lawn.
A thick thatch layer often compliments compacted soil. It blocks air, water and nutrients from soaking deep into the soil and root system, effectively starving your grass from what it needs to sustain itself. On top of all that, a thick thatch layer promotes fungus, disease and insect infestation.
As Benjamin Franklin once rightly said “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.

We could harp on about all the risks associated with letting your thatch layer get out of hand. As a general rule of thumb, you should be dethatching your turf at least a couple times a year. But if you…

I was lured into the lawnstar products by the liquid dethatcher. I liked the idea of spraying the lawn as opposed to raking the thatch out. I have a tow behind unit as well but it just does not get the same results as what raking does. I have to say I was not expecting much from the liquid dethathcer but I paired it with the liquid aerator and I could see the difference just about 4 days after treatment. The layer of brown thatch was thinning and I could see soil layer. Very good buy!
